Rom was working as a security guard at the Supernova desert rave when he was abducted by Hamas terrorists on October 7. Rom was one of the security guards who tried to assist others during the terrorist assault on the event. He spoke to his mother around 10:30 a.m., reassuring her that he was safe and in a situation room, planning to return home shortly. Rom helped two young women to safety that morning before being injured in both hands. He was last seen around 1:30 p.m. when helping a young woman escape from a garbage container to a safer location. His family was later informed that Rom had been taken hostage by Hamas.15

An American-Israeli citizen, Sagui has been missing since the Hamas attack on Nir Oz. Since his abduction, his wife Avital has given birth to their third child, a daughter named Shahar.16

Eliya was attending the Nova Music Festival with his girlfriend, Ziv, on October 7, 2023. They sought shelter under the bodies of the dead, but Eliya was shot and taken hostage by Hamas to Gaza. Eliya, who works in marketing and real estate, was also a party planner and producer in the past. He loves music, traveling, and is known for his kind-hearted, intelligent, and vibrant personality. His family’s last encounter with him was on the first evening of the Sukkot holiday (the Feast of Tabernacles).17

Nimrod was taken captive from a tank that malfunctioned near Israel’s border with Gaza. His family later found a Hamas video of him and were informed by the army at midnight that Nimrod had been abducted.18

Ariel was born and raised in Kibbutz Nir Oz, where he lived with his girlfriend, Arbel Yehoud. On October 7, both Ariel and Arbel were taken captive by Hamas terrorists. Ariel’s family, including his parents, siblings, and their families, also reside in Nir Oz. His brother David, his wife Sharon, and their young twins, along with Sharon’s sister Danielle and her child, were also abducted. Ariel sent a chilling message to his brother Eitan that morning, saying, “We are in a horror film.” Ariel and Arbel had just returned from a trip to South and Central America and had recently adopted a puppy.19

David was taken hostage from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 as Hamas terrorists launched an assault on the community, setting homes on fire, killing residents, and abducting individuals. David was captured along with his wife, Sharon Aloni Cunio, 33; their three-year-old twin daughters, Yuli and Emma; Sharon’s sister, Danielle Aloni, 44; and her daughter Emilia, five, who were visiting for the holiday weekend. Sharon and the twins were released on November 27, while Danielle and Emilia were freed on November 24 as part of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, facilitated by Qatar and the United States.20

Evyatar traveled from Kfar Saba to the Nova Music Festival with three close friends, including Guy Gilboa-Dalal. After enjoying a family Sabbath dinner, Evyatar joined his friends at the festival. Over 200 days later, Evyatar and Guy are still held captive in Gaza, while their two other friends, Ron and Idan, were tragically murdered by Hamas that day. Evyatar, the second child of Galia and Avishai David, was known for his lively and adventurous spirit, loving music and travel. His dream was to become a music producer. He was a charismatic individual, always able to connect with others, and his friends hope that being together with Guy helps both of them stay strong.21

Itzhak was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7. He managed to call his brother, Danny, and inform him that he was injured. “Danny, I’m wounded, my hand is bleeding, help me put on a tourniquet,” he said, but the call ended abruptly after Itzik said, “Danny, this is the end.” Itzik was a well-known maintenance worker at the kibbutz and part of a large family. He had lived in Denmark for 12 years before returning to Nir Oz. Itzik was a passionate traveler, soccer fan, and loved life. His family continues to search tirelessly for his return.22

Daniella was abducted from the Nahal Oz base an hour and a half after the Hamas attack began, alongside her four fellow observers. A video from the terrorists’ body cams shows chilling scenes of violence and death. Daniella had spoken to her mother, Orly, just before being taken, saying, “Mom, I can hear explosions and gunshots,” and later texted, “Mommy, pray for us.” These were the last words her family received from her.23

Guy was kidnapped while attempting to flee the Nova Music Festival. Guy had a deep passion for Japanese culture and worked for years to learn the language, with hopes of one day visiting Japan.24

Romi was abducted into Gaza during the Hamas attack at the Nova Music Festival. She and her friend Gaya tried to escape but became trapped in traffic. As gunshots rang out, they fled to hide in the bushes. Romi’s mother, Meirav, stayed in contact with her throughout the morning, but at 10:15 a.m., Romi reported being injured, saying, “Mom, they shot me, I’m bleeding.” The call was lost shortly after, and Romi was taken into Gaza.25

Maxim was abducted from the Nova Music Festival on October 7 after receiving a last-minute invitation from friends. Maxim’s mother, Tella, had immigrated to Israel from Ukraine seeking safety. Initially, Maxim texted to say everything was fine, but his final message, as the attack escalated, read, “Mom, I love you.” Maxim’s family, including his young daughter and mother, continue to wait for his return. Maxim was studying computer science and was the main provider for his family.26

An informal educator, Eitan was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, during a visit to his older brother Yair for the holiday weekend. The brothers are believed to have both been taken hostage, as confirmed by a local resident. Eitan’s family had immigrated to Israel from Argentina many years ago.27

Iair was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, along with his brother Eitan, who had visited for the holiday weekend. Communication with them was lost by 11 a.m., and by 6 p.m., the family discovered their house had been looted and they were gone. When hostages began to return as part of a deal with Hamas, those released confirmed that Iair and Eitan were still alive. Iair was born in Argentina and immigrated to Israel, settling in Nir Oz after spending time in Netiv HaLamed-Heh. A warm and humorous person, Iair enjoys playing guitar, soccer, and is a fan of the Rolling Stones and Hapoel Beer Sheva. His nephews, Gali and Ariel, are eagerly waiting for the day they can again watch a Hapoel Beer Sheva match with him. The family deeply misses Iair and Eitan and is committed to bringing them home.28

Tsachi was abducted by Hamas from Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7. During the attack, his eldest daughter, Ma’ayan, was murdered in the family’s protected room. Tsachi’s kidnapping, filmed live by the attackers, has left his family devastated. Tsachi is known for his quiet, modest nature, and his love for soccer, particularly Hapoel Tel Aviv.29

Bipin was a farming student from Nepal who was abducted by Hamas terrorists on October 7 during their attack on the Gaza border communities. Bipin had arrived in Israel only weeks earlier as part of an academic program. While in a safe room, he bravely tried to protect others, throwing grenades away and sending a final message to his cousin. He was later forced out by terrorists and has not been seen since.30

He informed his grandmother, Irena, about the sirens and missiles before going silent at 7 a.m. Eyewitnesses reported that Bar stayed behind to assist the injured, and he was later seen in a Hamas video, handcuffed and lying in the back of a truck.33

Naama was kidnapped by Hamas from Kibbutz Nahal Oz. Her mother, Ayelet, shared that Naama was dragged by her hair, handcuffed and bleeding, in a horrifying scene witnessed by the world. Naama was known for her compassion, volunteering at a kindergarten for foreign workers’ children and working to bridge gaps between different communities.34

Oded was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz when Hamas terrorists attacked and took him and his wife, Yocheved, captive. The couple had barricaded themselves in their safe room, but Oded was injured when the terrorists shot at the door. They were separated in captivity, with Yocheved released after seventeen days. Oded, a founding member of Kibbutz Nir Oz, is a passionate peace advocate and talented pianist. He is a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, making him the only great-grandfather currently held by Hamas.36

Shlomo was severely beaten and kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Kisufim by Hamas terrorists. As the oldest hostage held by Hamas, Shlomo is a survivor of the 1941 Farhud massacre in Baghdad. His family is waiting for his safe return.37

After much pleading, Lishay was allowed to retrieve her youngest daughter, but the entire family was later moved to a neighbor’s house. Omri and his neighbor’s father were taken, with Omri being driven away in his own car. Lishay and the girls were later found by Israeli soldiers.39

An Israeli soldier stationed at the Coordination and Liaison Administration to the Gaza Strip, Tamir was kidnapped on October 7 by Hamas from his base near the Erez Crossing. He was last seen in a Hamas propaganda video, led away to Gaza without his glasses. His family shared that Tamir cannot see clearly without them.41

Yosef-Chaim was abducted by Hamas from the Nova Festival on October 7. Amid the chaos, he was seen helping the wounded before seeking cover under a car. His mother described him as a generous soul with a heart of gold, and she prays for his safe return.43
Avinatan Or, 31

Avinatan was at the Nova Music Festival with his partner, Noa Argamani, when the terrorist attack by Hamas began. They hid for hours, hoping to avoid capture, but were eventually found. During that time, they contacted friends and family, sending their location and begging for help amid the chaos. Avinatan’s friend, Mishk’ha Lerman, spoke to him via WhatsApp shortly before the abduction, and Avinatan described how a group of terrorists was hunting people down. In one of the first videos released by Hamas, Avinatan and Noa are seen being separated, with Noa being taken away on a motorcycle. Avinatan, who is six-feet-eight-inches tall and very strong, was dragged by a group of five-to-eight young attackers into Gaza.44

Eli’s family was initially thought to be missing, but after a week, the bodies of his wife, Lianne, and daughters, Noiya and Yahel, were identified. Eli has not been seen in any videos or photos shared by Hamas.45

Adi and her family had been visiting from the north for the Simchat Torah (“Joy of the Torah”) holiday. Tal and his family were separated during their captivity, and his six relatives were released on November 25 as part of a ceasefire agreement.47

Aviva’s twin sister, Fiona, and their daughter, Shir, are devastated and continue to advocate for Keith’s return. Keith, originally from North Carolina, is a kind and quiet man who is deeply loved by his family.48

Sasha is an engineer and a Russian-Israeli citizen employed at Annapurna Labs, which was acquired by Amazon in 2015.50

Omer had communicated with his parents, expressing his fear during the assault. At 11:11 a.m., they received a Hamas video showing Omer tied up and taken to Gaza. Omer suffers from colitis, which can cause severe flare-ups. His family is holding onto hope for his return.51

Ohad was taken from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 after stepping outside to protect his family when the safe room door would not close. He was shot by terrorists and later kidnapped to Gaza. His 12-year-old son Eitan was also taken but released after 52 days. Ohad is an expert in desert trails and a devoted family man, known for cooking traditional dishes for his family. His family deeply misses him and hopes for his return.52

Arbel was abducted with her boyfriend, Ariel Cunio, from their home on Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 attack by Hamas. Arbel’s brother, Dolev Yehud, was killed while defending the kibbutz. Arbel, a third-generation resident of the kibbutz, is remembered as a loving and caring aunt, passionate about astronomy.53

A member of the kibbutz’s emergency response team, Aviv was killed battling terrorists during the October 7 attack. His body was abducted to Gaza. A founding member of Kibbutz Nir Oz, Amiram was an economist, poet, and composer, known for his work as the chief economist of the Ma’on region settlements. He viewed the establishment of Nir Oz and the settlement of the Western Negev as his life’s mission. Amiram has three children and nine grandchildren.72

Shaked, a soldier in the 7th Armored Brigade, was killed during the Hamas invasion, and his body was dragged into Gaza. Initially believed to be a hostage, his death was confirmed in late November. He is remembered for his love of music, soccer, and family.73

Ran, a member of the Yasam patrol unit in the Negev district, left a hospital on the morning of October 7 to join the defense efforts in Alumim during the Hamas attack. He was killed in the battle and was last heard from when he reported being shot twice in the leg.77
Gadi Haggai, 73
Taken from: Kibbutz Nir Oz
Israeli-American Gadi was killed during the October 7 attack, and his body remains in Hamas custody. His wife, Judy Weinstein, was also taken hostage and murdered. Gadi was a gifted musician, chef, and advocate of a healthy vegan lifestyle.78
Inbar Haiman, 27
Taken from: Supernova Desert Rave
A visual communications student from Haifa, Inbar was abducted while volunteering at the Supernova Festival. Her tragic death in captivity was later confirmed. She is survived by her parents and a brother.79
Asaf Hamami, 41
Taken from: Kibbutz Nirim
Asaf, commander of the Gaza Division’s Southern Brigade, lost his life fighting Hamas terrorists during the October 7 attacks on Kibbutz Nirim. Initially listed as a hostage, his death was confirmed on December 2. Asaf had spent the Sabbath near the border with his five-year-old son, Alon, whom he ensured was safely evacuated before engaging the attackers.80
Guy Illuz, 26
Taken from: Re’im Music Festival
Guy, a soundman who collaborated with prominent Israeli musicians, was wounded and abducted during the October 7 massacre at the Re’im Music Festival. He died in a Gaza hospital, reportedly due to a lack of medical care. Described by friends as a kind-hearted person, Guy was passionate about music and philosophy.81
Ofra Keidar, 70
Taken from: Be’eri
Ofra, a mother and grandmother, was abducted during her morning walk on October 7. Her husband was killed during the attack, but her daughter survived by hiding in a safe room. Ofra is remembered for her love of gardening and morning walks in the kibbutz orchards.82
Shay Levinson, 19
Taken from: Kibbutz Nahal Oz
Shay, a top volleyball player and advocate for coexistence, was taken hostage during the Hamas attack on October 7. He played for a team in the Arab village of Eilabun and believed strongly in unity.83
Eitan Levy, 52
Taken from: Be’eri
Eitan, a taxi driver, was ambushed while driving a client to Kibbutz Be’eri during the Hamas assault. His final call to his son captured his terrifying encounter with the attackers.84
Eliyahu Margalit, 75
Taken from: Kibbutz Nir Oz
Eliyahu, a cattle breeder and horse enthusiast, was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7. His death in captivity was announced on December 1. He leaves behind his wife, children, and grandchildren.85
Joshua Mollel, 21
Taken from: Kibbutz Nahal Oz
Joshua, an agricultural intern from Tanzania, was abducted from Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7. His death was confirmed in December, and his body remains in Gaza. Passionate about farming, he aspired to start his own agricultural business in Tanzania.86
Omer Neutra, 21
Taken from: Kibbutz Nahal Oz
Omer, a “lone soldier” (without parents in Israel) from New York, served as a tank platoon commander in the 7th Armored Brigade. He was abducted and killed during the October 7 assault. Omer, an athlete and leader, had postponed university to join the Israel Defense Forces.87
Sonthaya Oakkharasr, 30
Taken from: Be’eri
Sonthaya, a Thai national working in agriculture, was abducted and killed during the October 7 attack. His body remains in Hamas custody.88
Dror Or, 49
Taken from: Be’eri
Dror, a chef and cheesemaker, was kidnapped along with his children, Noam (17) and Alma (13), on October 7. His wife, Yonat, was killed, and his children were released in November during a temporary truce. Dror’s artisanal cheesemaking operation at Kibbutz Be’eri was widely acclaimed.89
Daniel Perez, 22
Taken from: Gaza border
Daniel, an adventurous and energetic young man, was a tank commander who loved extreme sports. Abducted on October 7, his body remains in Hamas custody. Daniel immigrated to Israel 10 years ago and was deeply loved by his family.90
Sudthisak Rinthalak
Taken from: Be’eri
Sudthisak, another Thai agricultural worker, was kidnapped and killed during the October 7 assault. His body is also being held by Hamas.91
Lior Rudaeff, 61
Taken from: Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak
Lior, a volunteer medic, joined his kibbutz’s emergency response team on October 7. His death was confirmed after communication was lost. Lior was a beloved husband, father, and dedicated community member.92
Yonatan Samerano, 21
Taken from: Supernova Desert Rave
Yonatan, a young DJ, was killed during the Hamas attack on the Supernova rave. His body was taken to Gaza. Known for his charm and joy, Yonatan’s loss is deeply mourned by family and friends.93
Yossi Sharabi, 53
Taken from: Be’eri
Yossi, a devoted father and soccer fan, was abducted during the Hamas attack on Be’eri. His body remains in Gaza. He is remembered for his warmth, dedication, and love of life.94
Idan Shtivi, 28
Taken from: Nova Festival
Idan, an environmental sciences student and volunteer photographer, was kidnapped during the Supernova Festival. Known for his love of nature and music, Idan had plans to work in the energy sector to combat climate change and volunteer in Africa.95
Judith Weinstein, 70
Taken from: Kibbutz Nir Oz
Judy, an Israeli-American, was abducted while her husband, Gadi Haggai, was killed during the October 7 attack. A teacher, poet, and peace advocate, Judy is deeply missed by her family and community.96
Ilan Weiss, 56
Taken from: Be’eri
Ilan, a devoted family man and emergency response team member, went missing on October 7 during the Hamas attack. His wife and daughter were later released, but Ilan’s death was confirmed. He was cherished by his community for his dedication and kindness.97
Yair Yaakov, 59
Taken from: Kibbutz Nir Oz
Yair, abducted during the October 7 attack, died from injuries sustained in captivity. His sons and partner were also kidnapped but later released. Yair was known for his love of family, music, and his energetic spirit.98
Aryeh Zalmanovich, 86
Taken from: Kibbutz Nir Oz
Aryeh, a seasoned wheat farmer specializing in desert agriculture, was taken captive during the October 7 assault while hiding in a secure room. He was abducted without his glasses or hearing aid. A widower with two children and five grandchildren, Aryeh’s death in captivity was announced by Kibbutz Nir Oz in December.99
